Tiffany Table lamps – About patterns and patterns

Hundreds of models and mockups allow a variety of different sizes and designs. Most of the designs are inspired by nature and often feature flowers, insects, and animals. There are also a variety of geometric patterns. Several lamps, for example, are in the Art Nouveau style.

It is Louis Comfort Tiffany, a famous American artist, who is at the origin of these colored glass lamps. Originally he was a painter, but at the age of 27, he became interested in the art of glass. He wanted to create a lampshade with colored glasses for the “new electric light”, which was much stronger than that obtained with gas lamps. Tiffany’s Works quickly became popular and he established a jewelry company that made lamps, jewelry, and porcelain. Louis Comfort Tiffany is internationally recognized as one of the most important artists in the art of glass and Art Nouveau.

Manufacturing process

The starting material in the production process is colored glass which is cut and sanded to fit the room. the pieces of glass are covered with sheets of copper and are soldered using a mixture of tin and lead. (For environmental reasons, our lamps are soldered “lead-free”). This technique was formerly used to produce colored tiles, mainly in churches. Tiffany lamps were originally made exclusively by hand, and nowadays techniques have been developed to make the job profitable, resulting in hand-designed works for an attractive price.

Originals and copies

Nowadays the term ‘Tiffany lamp’ is used very widely, and there is a lot of confusion as to which ones are original and which are copies. Lamps can be divided into three categories:

Reproductions are lamps that are exact copies of work done in Tiffany Studios. These lamps command a market price in the United States between 500-5000 US Dollars.

Tiffany style is all other lamps that are made using the same technology as the original lamps. These lamps come in many different shapes and styles and are produced in different countries. Usually, these are considerably cheaper than the originals and reproductions.
